Richert, Cherok Named Student-Athletes of the Year

Every year the Athletic Department recognizes senior student-athletes of distinction. Nominated by their respective coaches, the student-athlete of the year awards are given to our triple threat student -athletes. Nominees must have a GPA of 3.0 or above, participated with distinction in their sport and demonstrated a commitment to service.
Richert, who earned a 3.88 GPA and graduated with bachelor's degree in education, is currently pursuing s master's degree in sports leadership. The Gibsonia, Pa. native volunteers with both The Woodlands Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as participating in the Walk for Autism. Additionally, he was nominated to the Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team.
Cherok, a pharmacy major who had a 3.48 GPA and been a member of the Dean's List, Director of Athletics Honor Roll, and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, holds school records in the 400 meter hurdles, 4x100 meter relay, and both the indoor and outdoor 4x400 meter relay. The North Versailles, Pa. native had been an active member of the Duquesne community and had participated in numerous community service efforts such as urban beautification and meal service to the elderly. She had also advocated to congress on the Medicare pharmacy benefit reform.
