PITTSBURGH - It was a banner year for Duquesne Athletics, as the program combined for a school record 14 individual and two team championships in 2013-14 - bringing the school's all-time Atlantic 10 Championship total to 102.
Beginning with a rowing Novice 4 championship in 1999 and ending with Jim Spisak's title in the 5000-meter run at last week's Outdoor Track Championship, all but one of the championships (1977 men's basketball) have come in the past 16 years.
Five programs either matched or exceeded their best Atlantic 10 finish in 2013-14, led by women's cross country and volleyball which posted the third and fourth A-10 team championships in school history.
Men's (3rd) and Women's (2nd) Outdoor Track tied their best finish, while Women's Indoor Track posted a program-best tied for second finish.
In addition, Duquesne's football team, which competes in the Northeast Conference, won a share of the title for the second time in the past three years.
