CLEVELAND, Ohio - Duquesne's
A.J. Hines (Wilson, N.C./Fike) added another Preseason All-American nod when the junior running back was recognized as a Second Team selection by Phil Steele FCS Magazine.
Hines recently earned Preseason All-American honors from STATS FCS and HERO Sports while also being named to the Walter Payton Award Watch List.
The Wilson, N.C. native has recorded 2,329 rushing yards with 23 rushing scores in his first two seasons with the Dukes. He has tallied 13 100-yard rushing games and is a two-time First Team All-NEC pick. In 10 games last season, Hines ran for 1,038 yard with 10 touchdowns, averaging 115.3 yards per game and 5.7 yards per carry.
Hines was one of two players to represent the Northeast Conference on the Phil Steele Preseason All-American team along with Bryant linebacker Thomas Costigan (Second Team).
In addition to the All-American teams, Phil Steele also announced its 2018 Preseason All-NEC Teams which recognized eight Dukes including:
