Dan Schwartzbauer joins the Duquesne University coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2005 season following a decorated career as a Dukes baseball player. He will work with the infielders and head up the off-season conditioning program.

Schwartzbauer was a four-year starter at shortstop for the Red and Blue and is the University's all-time leader in runs scored with 168 and stolen bases with 82. He boasted a .297 career batting average with 204 career hits, 44 career doubles and 95 career RBI.

More recently Schwartzbauer has seen success at the professional level as a member of the Bradenton Pirates. A 41st round selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2004 draft, he went on to lead the team with a .366 batting average and also led his squad with 24 RBI and 13 walks. He is scheduled to report to single-A Hickory this spring.

Schwartzbauer is single and resides in Pittsburgh.
