Dukes Lose Night Cap To George Mason, 6-2

Columbia, South Carolina - Duquesne University's baseball team dropped their second game on Saturday to George Mason, 6-2, at the 2004 Gamecook Round Robin at the University of South Carolina's Sarge Frye Field.

Freshman Derek Mechling (Homer City, PA / Homer Center), who was inserted as a pinch hitter in the lineup in the bottom of the seventh inning, hit his first home run as a collegiate athlete. Sophomore Travis Rife (York, PA / Dallastown) pitched 4 1/3 innings of hitless relief.

The Dukes (0-2) will complete the tourney on Sunday, Feb. 29th against Radford (0-5) at noon.
