Dukes Fall to Northeastern in 11 Innings, 10-9

Duquesne's baseball team battled back from an early 7-0 deficit to Northeastern and scored three runs in the eighth inning to tie the game, but eventually fell to the Huskies in 11 innings, 10-9 on Monday. The Dukes, who allowed six unearned runs in the first inning, outhit NU, 11-8. The Red and Blue's 2-3-4 batters combined for eight hits and four RBI as freshman Rick Devereaux went 2-6 with three RBI, sophomore Andrew Heck went 3-6 with an RBI and two runs scored and senior Bill Torre went 3-5. Freshman Jim Devine tossed four innings of relief work, allowing just one unearned run while striking out seven. The Dukes will look to get on track on Tuesday as they face Maine at 4:00 pm. The original game time of 12:30 was pushed back due to travel difficulties for Maine.
