Dukes Topple Akron, 7-6

The Duquesne baseball team won its fourth straight game, defeating visiting Akron, 7-6 Wednesday afternoon at Duquesne Field. Junior Joe Berletic singled in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
On offense, freshman Derek Fallecker tallied his first collegiate hit, going 3-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore Derek Mechling and junior Aaron Janusey each had two hits while junior Corey Bugno drove in two runs.
On the mound, freshman Gary Pierpont pitched two scoreless innings while junior Alex Sharick pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his first win of the season.
The Red and Blue head to Philadelphia to take on Saint Joseph's in a three-game Atlantic 10 weekend series.
