Duquesne's baseball team even the season series with Pitt Wednesday afternoon, topping the Panthers, 5-2 at PNC Park. Sophomore Andrew Heck tossed the complete game for the Dukes, fanning six batters while scattering just six hits and walking one.
The Red and Blue captured a 3-0 lead after their second at bat as Derrik Zeroski hit a scarifice fly to score Chriss Happ who led the inning off with a walk and Carson singled in Derek Lefever who earlier doubled to the left field wall.
The Panthers scored a run in the third, but there was no more scoring until the top of the eighth when Mark Tracy and Bill Torre led off the inning with singles and later scored on an error and another Zeroski sacrifice fly. A single run by Pitt in the bottom of the ninth ended the game's scoring.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, May 8 as they travel to St. Bonaventure for a 4:00 pm game.
