Duquesne's baseball team scored in each of the first five innings and cruised to a 12-2 victory over visiting Temple Sunday afternoon at Duquesne Field. The Red and Blue swept the three-game series, outscoring the Owls, 48-25. The victory keeps the Dukes' Atlantic 10 Championship berth hopes alive and extends their winning streak to five games. Senior Alex Sharick picked up his second win of the season, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out six. Fellow seniors Joe Kaye and Travis Rife finished the game as six of the team's eight seniors received playing time on Senior Day. The remaining two seniors both pitched on Saturday. Offensively, junior Derek Mechling was 2-3, hitting his third home run in the past two games. Junior Pat Kimutis also homered while sophomore Bill Torre went 2-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. The Red and Blue travel to Niagara on Tuesday, May 15 for a 4:00 pm game before returning home Wednesday for their home finale versus Youngstown State.
