Baseball Signs Three in Early Period

Duquesne University baseball coach Mike Wilson recently announced the addition of three players for the 2010 season. Karl Benusa (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview), Nick Berger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and Richard Navari (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) will enroll at Duquesne next fall.

Benusa is a three-year varsity starter and will be the team captain as a senior. As a junior he was named to the Post-Gazette All-Section Team after batting .577 with four home runs and 27 RBI.

Berger is a two-year varsity starter. He batted .271 with 17 walks seven stolen bases and a .453 on base percentage as a sophomore before batting .340 as a junior. He has played for the Steel City Wildcats the last two summers.

Navari is a three-year varsity letterman and was a Post-Gazette All-Section honoree. His team is three-time section champions and was the 2008 WPIAL Quad A runner-up.

The Dukes open the 2009 season on Saturday, Feb. 21 as they travel to South Carolina for a three-game series.
