Duquesne University junior catcher Derek Mechling (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the week ending May 13.

Mechling led the Dukes in hitting last week with a .563 (9-16) average as the Red and Blue went 5-0 for the week. Most of the damage Mechling did was in a three-game Atlantic 10 sweep of visiting Temple as he went 7-10 with three home runs, six runs scored and seven RBI. He boosted his season average to .297 and is second on the team with five homers.

The Dukes return to action on Tuesday, May 15 as they travel to Niagara for a 3:00 pm game.
