Played in 54 of a possible 57 games in his two seasons at Duquesne ... started 19 of 27 games as a senior ... reached double digits in the scoring column 12 times (eight as a senior and four as a junior) ... Duquesne went 11-46 in his two seasons ... posted a pair of double-doubles as a senior ... battled a series of nagging injuries as a junior that hindered his development and saw him miss three games ... sprained and damaged ligaments his left (shooting) wrist in a campus fall on Feb. 1 of his senior season ... played his last nine games with the wrist heavily taped ... attended the same junior college - Kennedy-King College in Chicago - as Duquesne's 2003-04 leading scorer and rebounder, Elijah Palmer.



As a Senior (2005-06)
Was one of three players to see action in all 27 games ... averaged 20.0 minutes per game ... was playing as well as any big man in the A-10 prior to spraining his wrist and suffering ligament damage the day of the Feb. 1 La Salle game (17-6 at Dayton, 13-7 vs. GW & 18-7 at St. Bonaventure in three games prior to the injury) ... injured the wrist when he tripped while running up stairs in the Student Union ... in the last two games prior to La Salle, Gayden was on fire, scoring 31 points in 35 minutes ... in his first six games back, Gayden - playing with his injured wrist heavily taped - averaged 6.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 18.0 minutes per game, before breaking out with 18 points in 19 minutes vs. St. Bonaventure on Feb. 25 ... he came off the bench in his first four games back before rejoining the starting lineup vs. Saint Louis ... earlier in the year the JC transfer posted back-to-back double-doubles vs. Troy (12-10) and Appalachian State (19-12) to earn a spot on the Duquesne Holiday Tournament all-tournament team (Dec. 30-31) ... his 19 points and 12 rebounds vs. Appalachian State were both career highs ... he also tied career bests for blocks (3) and minutes played (31) vs. the Mountaineers ... fouled out of eight of 16 Atlantic 10 games ... scored 15 points (7-of-11 from the field) vs. #13 (AP) Boston College - and its All-American forward Craig Smith - on Dec. 27.



As a Junior (2004-05)
Played in 27 of 30 games with five starts ... averaged 5.2 points and 4.0 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game ... had his top game of the season on Nov. 24 with 15 points and nine rebounds in a 72-69 loss to West Virginia ... suffered a grade two sprain of his right ankle in practice the day before the WVU game and spent game day on crutches, missing the afternoon shoot-around and most of pregame warm-ups ... ended up coming out to join his teammates with under 10 minutes on the pregame clock and gave the Dukes a huge boost with eight points and seven rebounds in 11 first-half minutes off the bench ... the ankle injury forced him to sit out the game at George Mason on Nov. 27 ... an unstable left shoulder forced him to the bench for the St. Bonaventure game on Jan. 23 and he missed the Mar. 5 UMass game after Fordham's Bryant Dunston accidently rolled on his ankle and knee in the second half of a game on Mar. 2 ... all five of his starts came in DU's first seven games ... reached double digits in the scoring column on four occasions, with the last coming at Robert Morris on Dec. 29 (11 points) ... 49 of his 109 rebounds came at the offensive end ... tied his rebound high in two of DU's last six games with nine versus Temple (22 minutes) and La Salle (in 21 minutes).

Kennedy-King College in Chicago, Ill. (head coach Garland Dildy) ... averaged 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore in earning NJCAA All-Region IV Second Team honors for 17-13 Kennedy-King ... shot 54.5 percent from the field.
