BRONX, N.Y. - Duquesne opened the second half with a 17-0 run to take control in a record-setting 64-41 Atlantic 10 win over Fordham at Rose Hill Gym.

DU, the last Division I team to play a road game, responded by posting the school's largest margin ever in an A-10 road contest.

The win was the tenth in 11 games for the Dukes, who are 3-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2010-11 team opened 8-0.

Rene Castro-Caneddy, who scored 10 in the 17-0 run, led the Dukes with 21 points. Tarin Smith added 12 points and six assists and Jordan Robinson scored a season-high 10 for DU, who held Fordham to its lowest point total in series history.

Duquesne, which led 33-26 at the half, held the Rams without a field goal until the 12:39 mark of the second half in building a 50-26 lead.

The Dukes lead reached 26 with 8:12 to go.

There was one tie and a pair of lead changes before Duquesne went on a 9-0 run to take a 21-13 lead on a pair of Mike Lewis II free throws. Smith started the run with a bucket and found Jordan Robinson for a dunk and Castro-Caneddy for a score. Fordham briefly cut it to four on a deep Cavit Havsa 3-pointer at the shot clock buzzer with 3:34 left, before DU rallied to close the half up 33-26.

Duquesne heads to Richmond, Va. to face VCU on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 8:00 p.m. The VCU game will be televised by the Stadium Network (will air locally on WPNT-2 and Verizon Fios channel 820).

• Duquesne's 12-4 start is its best since the 2008-09 NIT team (21-13) opened with a 12-4 record.

• DU is 3-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2010-11 team opened 8-0. This is just the third time in 41 Atlantic 10 seasons that the Dukes have opened 3-0. The other in addition to 2010-11 was in 2008-09 (3-0).

• Head coach Keith Dambrot's 12-4 record is the best by a first-year Duquesne coach since Donald "Dudey" Moore went 13-3 in his first season in 1948-49. Dambrot is DU's 11th coach since Moore finished on the Bluff in 1957-58. Moore coached Keith Dambrot's father, Sid, for three seasons (1952-54).

• Fordham's previous low point total in the series was 45 in a 67-45 win on Dec. 10, 1954.

• The 41 points were the fewest allowed by a Dukes team since a 34-33 loss to Saint Peter's on March 10, 1980 (NIT).
