Duquesne head coach Danny Nee
"Last year when I saw Saint Joseph's I felt
that `these guys were really good' that they were going to do something. I
feel the same way about George Washington. They are a very, very good
basketball team. I think nationally they are underrated. They have a
chance to do something special the rest of the year. Their quickness up
the floor, their intensity, their rebounding ... they've got a nice
team. They have an opportunity to play very long into March.
"They played almost a perfect first half. In the first half, the
knockout was delivered. Then they toyed with us in the second half. It is
so tough to simulate a team with their talent in practice. I think our
young players can learn a lot from a game like this."
Duquesne guard Bryant McAllister
"George Washington is the best team in
our league. They play hard. They take you out of your sets. They get you
out of whack. I think in the first half we gave up 10 points on transition
layups. Against them you have to do everything right. They took us out of
our sets and stopped ball reversal. A few guys were like `what do I do
now?' But no one has their head down. We will use this game to learn."
Duquesne center Kieron Achara
"They were able to get us out of our
plays. It was sort of like playground basketball. They are the most
athletic team I've ever played against. They run the floor well and jump
out of the gym."
