Duquesne head coach Danny Nee
"We made a run and their lead went from 13 to three, but we just couldn't get stops when we needed them. Defensive rebounding and controlling dribble penetration is something we have to work on . They made a lot of shots in the first half. The good shooting of Rhode Island early was the key to the game. Everyone shoots the ball well against us. We have to do something about that. We shot 51 percent in the second half, and they shot 58 percent. We have got to play better defense.
"Our players are very frustrated. They know how inconsistently we've played at home. Outside of the West Virginia game, we haven't played well in this gym. We practice here every day.
"I have to start making some decisions. It may be time to start shortening the bench."
Duquesne guard Tyler Bluemling
"We didn't come out to play in the first 10 minutes. They outplayed us, they outworked us and they outhustled us. It is very frustrating. Coaches tell us what to do and we don't execute it."
