Notes
Duquesne head coach Danny Nee
"We didn't panic, we just stayed with our
game plan. We were very cohesive and didn't go `negative' in any way
mentally or physically. We played smart in the second half. We pounded it
into [Kieron] Achara and got to the free throw line. I thought Bryant
McAllister showed a lot of heart in the second half. He was getting fouled
and going to the line. He got stronger and stronger as the half went
on. Jack Higgins carried us in the first half with his offensive thrust."
Duquesne center Kieron Achara
"Basketball is a game of runs. Earlier
this season we worried about scoring when we were down. Now the focus is
more on defense and getting stops. I was focused on playing hard. I knew
I had a bad game against Rhode Island (six points in 27 minutes). I just
went out and played as hard as I can play."
Duquesne guard Jack Higgins
"Coming into this game, I just wanted to keep
a positive mindset. Sitting out (Higgins missed three games with
pneumonia) was hurtful. I had a lot of time to think. I got a clear view
of what I want to do and how I want to perform. This is a new year and a
new Jack Higgins. I'm just trying to finish the season and play hard."
