RICHMOND, VA - T.J. Cline posted the first triple-double in school history, as Richmond rode a late 17-4 run to a 101-90 victory over Duquesne before a sellout crowd at Robins Center.
Cline, who finished with 34 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, scored 20 in the second half. ShawnDre' Jones scored 18 of his 30 in the second half for the Spiders, who defeated the Dukes for the tenth-straight time in Richmond.
Freshman Isiaha Mike led the Dukes with 23 points. Emile Blackman had 22 and freshman Mike Lewis II added 21 for the Dukes, who had three 20-point scorers in the same game for the first time since 2010.
Duquesne led 71-68 with 8:37 left when Jones tied it with a 3-pointer. Jones added a jumper and 3-pointer and Cline added another 3-pointer to make it 85-75 with 4:16 left.
Richmond, which went 23-of-24 from the foul line in the second half, scored 14 of its final 16 points from the stripe to maintain its lead.
The Dukes erased an early 10-point deficit to take a 40-39 lead on a Mike 3-pointer with 3:26 to go in the first half. Duquesne upped the lead to three before Richmond closed the half with a 7-2 run to take a 46-44 lead.
Mike had 19 in the first half for DU.
There were five ties and four lead changes in the game.
The Spiders outshot the Dukes 53.4 percent to 46.5 percent. Duquesne, led by a career-high five 3-pointers from Lewis II and four from Blackman, went 11-of-23 from 3-point. Richmond, which got four 3-pointers from Jones and Julius Johnson, finished 13-of-31 from the arc.
Duquesne returns home to face St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 8:00 p.m. (ASN).
Mike, Blackman and Lewis II were the first DU threesome to top 20 in the same game since Melquan Bolding (32), Eric Evans (23) and Bill Clark (20) did it in a 111-100 win over Fordham on March 5, 2010.
Tarin Smith finished with 12 points, a career-high eight rebounds and seven assists for the Dukes.
Mike Lewis II's five 3-pointers (5-8) were two more than his previous career high of three, reached five times this season ... Lewis II entered the game 1-of-15 from the arc in DU's previous three outings.
Richmond has now won 10 in a row over the Dukes at Robins Center, dating back to a 67-60 Dukes overtime victory on Dec. 20, 1993.
Richmond's 101 points were the most scored by either team in the 29-game series ... the previous was 97 by Duquesne in a 97-90 win at Richmond on Jan. 8, 1975.
There were five ties and four lead changes before T.J.Cline gave the Spiders the lead for good on a dunk with 8:03 left ... Richmond's largest lead was +13, the last of which came with 26 seconds left (101-88) ... Duquesne's largest lead was six (63-57) with 13:06 remaining ... Richmond led for 26:50 and Duquesne led for 10:44 ... the game was tied for 2:26.
