PHILADELPHIA - Khalif Wyatt scored 24 points and Juan Fernandez added 20 - including six 3-pointers - as Temple shot 57.7 percent in defeating Duquesne 78-59 at the Liacouras Center.

The win, Temple's ninth in a row over the Dukes in Philadelphia, extended the Owls (21-5, 10-2) win streak to 10. Duquesne, which was led by 20 points from B.J.Monteiro, dropped to 15-11 overall and 6-6 in Atlantic 10 play.

Duquesne led 13-11 mid-way through the first half when Fernandez caught fire, hitting four 3-pointers in a span of 4:29 to give the Owls a 31-22 lead. A Ramone Moore 3-pointer with 5:12 left gave the Owls their first double-digit lead at 34-22. DU cut it to nine twice before Wyatt made it a 13-point game on a drive at the 43 second mark. Mamadou Datt cut the lead to 42-31 on a bucket with 17 seconds left.

Fernandez (15) and Wyatt (14) combined for 29 of the Owls' first half points.

Duquesne stayed within striking distance early in the second half, cutting the lead to 50-42 on a Mike Talley jumper with 13:06 to go, but could get no closer as the Owls maintained at least a nine-point lead for the rest of the game. The Dukes hit just 1-of-9 3-point attempts in the second half and 5-of-18 for the game.

Talley had 9 points and T.J. McConnell had 8 points and 4 steals for the Dukes who shot 36.5 percent and assisted on just 9 of 23 field goals. Sean Johnson, who entered the game averaging 14.6 ppg., was held to 2 points on 0-of-8 shooting.

Monteiro had 6 rebounds for the Dukes who outrebounded the taller Owls 34-32.

"We didn't shoot it well from the three in the second half and we didn't make our free throws [8-of-14]," said Duquesne head coach Ron Everhart. "Fernandez shot it well, but Wyatt was the one getting into the lane and facilitating a lot of Fernandez's shots. We allowed them to shoot 57 percent. You are not going to beat a team as good as Temple when you allow that to happen."

Fernandez finished 7-of-9 from the field including 6-of-7 from the 3-point arc.

Duquesne returns home to face Dayton on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised regionally by CBS Sports Network.
