PITTSBURGH - Mike Lewis II scored a game-high 29 points and freshman Eric Williams Jr. added a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Duquesne to an 86-61 win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at the Palumbo Center.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Dukes, who evened their record at 3-3.

MDES, which shot 37.7 percent, fell to 3-6.

Lewis II, who did not miss a shot in the first half, came out on fire, hitting five shots, including three 3-pointers in the first 6:35, to give the Dukes an 18-7 lead. Duquesne, which shot 55.6 percent in the half, took a 20-point lead on a pair of Tydus Verhoeven free throws with 5:23 left.

The Dukes, who entered the game averaging 8.2 assists per game, had 10 at the half in building a 42-23 lead.

Lewis II finished the half 7-of-7 from the field, including 4-of-4 from 3-point and 1-of-1 from the line.

Duquesne took a 56-30 lead less than five minutes into the second half on back-to-back 3-pointers from Williams Jr. and Lewis II.

Tarin Smith hit three 3-pointers in a two-minute span to up the Duquesne lead to 75-41 with 9:28 left.

Lewis II hit his career high-tying sixth 3-pointer to make it 80-50 with 6:06 remaining.

Duquesne led by 30 with a little over four minutes left before emptying the bench.

Williams Jr., who now has three double-doubles in his first six college games, finished with three dunks and four 3-pointers.

The Dukes set season highs for points, field goals (30), field goal percentage (.476), 3-pointers (14), 3-point percentage (.483) and assists (18).

DU, which finished with 11 turnovers, did not turn it over in the second half.

Duquesne plays its second game in 72 hours when it hosts Stetson (6-4) on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 8:00 p.m. The Stetson game will be preceded by the Duquesne women vs. Toledo at 5:30 p.m.

• This was the first time Duquesne started the same lineup in back-to-back games (Eric Williams Jr., Tydus Verhoeven, Chas Brown, Mike Lewis II and Rene Castro-Caneddy).

• Lewis II tied his career high with six 3-pointers in seven attempts ... Lewis also went 6-of-7 from the arc in scoring a career-high 31 vs. UMass last year ... this was Lewis' 12th career 20-point game and third this season.

Eric Williams Jr. eclipsed his previous scoring high of 18 points (set vs. Robert Morris and matched vs. Pitt) with 24 points ... Williams Jr. finished with three dunks and four 3-pointers ... the freshman added 11 rebounds for his third double-double ... Williams Jr. has had at least eight rebounds in every game this season.

• Grad transfer Chas Brown had eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks in 18 minutes ... it was Brown's second game back from a foot injury that sidelined him for DU's first four games.

Kellon Taylor had eight rebounds and seven assists with one turnover in 26 minutes off the bench.

• Duquesne's largest lead was 34 at 77-43 with 8:21 left ... MDES's largest lead was at 2-0 ... Duquesne led for 37:43 and Maryland Eastern Shore led for 1:35 ... the game was tied for 0:35.
