Jan. 22, 2018

PITTSBURGH - Eric Williams Jr. was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the fourth time for his performance in Duquesne's two games last week. The 6-5 Michigan native posted a 10-11 double-double at Saint Louis and followed that with a record-setting 34-11 double-double in a 2OT win over George Mason.

Williams Jr. hit a school-record nine 3-pointers (9-of-15) in scoring a Duquesne freshman record 34 points against George Mason. Earlier this season, Williams Jr. set the school freshman record for rebounds in a game with 16 vs. Stetson. He now has posted an Atlantic 10-tying high nine double-doubles - including three in DU's last three games. The nine double-doubles rank fifth among the nation's freshmen, behind only Marvin Bagley of Duke (15), Deandre Ayton of Arizona (13), Brandon McCoy of UNLV (10) and Trae Young of Oklahoma (10).

Williams Jr. (15.0 ppg., 9.8 rpg.), the nation's fourth-leading freshman rebounder, leads the A-10 with a 9.8 rpg. average - the highest by a Duke since Damian Saunders averaged 11.3 rpg. in 2010. The versatile G/F is second on the team with 44 3-pointers and has thrown down a team-high 15 dunks.

Williams Jr.'s four Rookie of the Week honors are tied for the second-most by a Duquesne player, trailing only five-time ROW's Robert Mitchell (2007) and T.J. McConnell (2011).

Duquesne (14-6, 5-2), off to its best start since 2010-11, hosts Richmond (6-13, 4-3) on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised regionally by AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh.
