The Dukes will be looking to end an 11-game losing streak in an arena where they have yet to post a victory. DU's last win at Temple was on Jan. 30, 1995 at McMonigle Hall. DU is 0-8 at Liacouras Center which opened for the 1997-98 season).
Duquesne is 1-9 on the road with a 73-72 win at Appalachian State on Nov. 28. Temple, which is coming off a 72-71 win at Dayton, is 10-2 at home.
Duquesne started three freshmen for the first time this season in Saturday's 73-65 home loss to Xavier at CONSOL Energy Center. Forward Quevyn Winters tied his career highs with 19 points and four assists, guard/forward Jeremiah Jones added 11 points and a career-high seven rebounds and leading scorer point guard Derrick Colter had eight points and four rebounds. The threesome, along with junior Jerry Jones, helped the Dukes to a 14-7 lead early and 21-4 run to open the second half.
Eight of DU's 16 losses have come to teams that began the week ranked in the NCAA RPI Top 90 ... DU's top RPI wins have been over West Virginia (90) and Western Michigan (97).
Three of DU's top five scorers are freshmen: Derrick Colter (12.7 ppg.), Quevyn Winters (8.7) and Jeremiah Jones (8.0). Colter (Dec. 17 & 24) and Winters (Dec. 31) combined to earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors for three-straight weeks in December. Colter leads the team in scoring (0.4 ahead of Sean Johnson) and assists (115/5.00 apg.). Only four players in school history have led the Dukes in scoring and assists - all were seniors: Aaron Jackson (19.3/5.7 in 2009), Bryant McAllister (19.7/4.8 in 2006), Courtney Wallace (16.6/3.4 in 2001) and Mike James (17.5/3.5 in 1998).
Colter (31.5), Jeremiah Jones (25.0) and Winters (20.5) are all averaging over 20 minutes per game. The threesome - which ranks first, fifth and third on the team in scoring - is accounting for 43.5 percent of DU's points and over half of the team's 3-pointers (99-of-187).
Colter, the eighth freshman in school history to total 100 assists in a season (he has 115), is averaging a team high 5.00 apg. He is on pace to become just the fourth freshman in school history to average five assists in a season.
