• Duquesne (15-12, 6-7), coming off back-to-back losses at Temple and at home to Dayton, hits heads to Washington, D.C. to face George Washington on Saturday, Feb. 25 (2:00 p.m.). The Dukes, who are currently in ninth place in the Atlantic 10, are in a multiple-team battle for a top eight finish. The top four teams receive byes at the A-10 Championship, while teams five through eight host first round tournament games. George Washington has a two-game lead over Fordham and Rhode Island for the 12th spot.

• GW, which has lost seven of its past eight, is 5-7 at home with league victories over Rhode Island, Richmond and Charlotte ... Duquesne is 3-7 on the road indlueint a 2-4 mark in A-10 play with wins at Rhode Island and Dayton.

• Duquesne, which lost 16 in a row to Dayton from 1997 through 2004, is 7-6 against the Flyers in the past 13 games ... the two have split home wins in each of the past two seasons.

• Ten of DU's first 13 conference games have been against RPI Top 100 schools (Rhode Island (W), Richmond (W) & Fordham (W) are the exceptions) ... the Dukes' next two games are on the road against 100+ teams (174 George Washington and 153 Charlotte).

• According to Basketball State, Duquesne has faced the second-toughest schedule among the Atlantic 10's 14 schools (through Wednesday): Xavier (49th), DUQUESNE (50th), Dayton (53rd), Saint Joseph's (55th), Temple (60th), George Washington (61st), Saint Louis (87th), Rhode Island (104th), Richmond (107th), La Salle (121st), St. Bonaventure (125th), Charlotte (131st), Fordham (135th) and UMass (140th).

• Duquesne is averaging 61.5 points on .390 shooting (89-of-228) in its past four games (a 69-48 loss at St. Bonaventure, 77-67 win over Fordham, 78-59 loss at Temple and 74-62 loss to Dayton).

• This is the fourth consecutive season the Dukes have posted 15 or more wins ... it is the longest streak since 1968-73 (15+ wins in six straight seasons).

• The Dukes, who led the nation is assists (17.8), steals (9.9) and turnover margin (+6.7) last year are averaging 15.4 assists and 7.9 steals ... DU began the week ranked third in NCAA Division I in turnover margin (+5.3, currently at +5.5) behind Syracuse (+6.6) and VCU (+5.8).

• Senior guard Eric Evans enters the GW game needing two assists to become the 10th 1,000-point/300 assist man in school history (1,008/298) ... Evans reached the 1,000-point mark with a layup at the 18:13 mark of the second half against Fordham on Feb. 15 ... T.J. McConnell needs six assists to both reach 300 and set a new sophomore assist mark (currently 159 by Clayton Adams in 1988-89) ... McConnell enters with 294 career assists (154 this season) ... McConnell's 154 assist are rank sixth on DU's single-season list (school record is 194 by Aaron Jackson in 34 games in 2008-09).

• Duquesne is 3-7 on the road, including a 2-4 mark in A-10 play ... DU snapped George Mason's 18-game home win streak with a 75-64 victory at the Patriot Center on Dec. 21 ... it was GMU's first double-digit home loss since February of 2007 ... DU also posted its first win at Rhode Island since 2004 (78-71 on Jan. 14) ... the Dukes' 83-73 win at Dayton on Feb. 1 marked the school's largest margin of victory ever on the road against the Flyers.

Ron Everhart inherited a Duquesne program that had won a total of 17 road games in the 10 seasons prior to his arrival. In his six seasons, Everhart's Dukes have posted 32 road wins. Of the 32 wins, 24 have been by double digits. From 1996-97 through 2005-06 Duquesne posted a total of three double-digit road victories.

• The Dukes play at Charlotte (Feb. 29) before concluding the regular season at home against Saint Louis on March 3. B.J. Monteiro, Eric Evans and student manager Brian Collins will be recognized before the SLU game as part of Senior Day ceremonies.

THE SERIES: George Washington leads the overall series 42-27 including a 36-22 lead in Atlantic 10 regular season games ... in games played at Washington, D.C., George Washington holds a 23-7 advantage ... the Dukes have won four in a row in the series for the first time since 1989-90 when DU won five straight ... in DU's last trip to D.C., Damain Saunders had a career-high 27 points and added 16 rebounds as Duquesne scored the final six points to pull away for a 70-63 win ... the victory, Duquesne's first at GW since 2000, ended a six-game DU losing streak at the Smith Center ... Freshman Mamadou Datt had his best game as a Duke with eight points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes in his first career start to help DU to a 75-64 win at George Mason on Dec. 21 ... went 4-of-8 with three dunks vs. the Patriots ... had not scored more than two points in his 11 previous games ... added 8 points and 7 rebounds in 11 minutes at Saint Louis on Jan. 21 and followed that with 7 points and 5 boards in 15 minutes vs. La Salle ... tied his career high for a second time with 8 points (4-of-5 with two dunks) vs. Datyon on Feb. 22 ... attempted just 12 field goals in 11 games prior to his breakout at George Mason ... had five rebounds in 18 minutes at Temple.

35 • Derrick Martin
Redshirt freshman Derrick Martin has seen action in nine of DU's past 15 games (39 total minutes) ... had 4 points, 3, rebounds and 2 blocks in 9 minutes vs. Houston Baptist ... had two rebounds in five first-half minutes vs. UMass ... posted 2 boards and 2 blocks in a season-high 12 minutes at Saint Louis.

FAMILIAR NAME, NEW FACE: Rich Piekarski, a back-up safety for the DU football team, began practicing with the basketball team on Nov. 21 - two days after the season finale against Robert Morris. The 6-2 guard, who was an outstanding quarterback/point guard at Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio, played in all 11 games for DU's 9-2 NEC co-Championship team (7-1 in league play) at safety. Piekarski, who served as the holder for placekicks, was part of a secondary that led the nation's Football Championship Subdivision in pass defense. He had 10 tackles, one interception and recovered a pair of fumbles as a member of DU's nickel and dime defensive packages. Piekarski's uncle, Bill, played basketball for the Dukes from 1974-77. Another uncle, Dave, played for Duquesne's freshman team. A third uncle, Gene, also graduated from DU. Piekarski, who redshirted with the football team in 2010, hasn't played basketball since averaging 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds for Hudson in 2009-10. Piekarski, a third team all-state and first team all-district quarterback, was also an honorable mention Division I All-Ohio basketball player. Piekarski's first game in uniform was on Nov. 26 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette. He saw his first action on Dec. 31 against Houston Baptist and showed his passing skills with two assists in the final minute of a 118-72 win.
