Duquesne Mourns the Loss of Former #DUQMBB Captain Brian Anselmino

The Duquesne University Department of Athletics is mourning the loss of former basketball letterman Brian Anselmino (1987-90), 45, who lost his life unexpectedly over the weekend.

"The Duquesne University athletics family was deeply saddened to hear of Brian's passing," said Director of Athletics Greg Amodio. "He was a devoted father, friend to many and a passionate supporter of our men's basketball program. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

Surviving are his wife, Denise Wright Anselmino, and his twin children, Danielle and Anthony Anselmino. Deceased is a young daughter, Amanda Anselmino, who passed away on the same day in 2006.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 27, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church.

Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Brian's name to Catholic Charities, 212 Ninth Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222, www.ccpgh.org.
