A-10 Press Release with Teams

Duquesne sophomore guard T.J. McConnell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) was named third team All-Atlantic 10 and also earned a spot on the league's All-Defensive Team by vote of the A-10's 14 head coaches released today.

McConnell, who ranks third nationally with a 2.8 steals per game average, also leads the A-10 in assist/turnover ratio (2.1-to-1), ranks second in 3-point shooting percentage (.447) and third in assists (5.5 apg.).

The 2011 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, leads Duquesne in field goal (.516), 3-point and free throw percentage (.824) while averaging 11.4 points per game.

This is the fifth time in six seasons under head coach Ron Everhart that the Dukes have produced an All-Defensive Team member. Duquesne had never had an All-Defensive Team member (team first named in 1997) prior to Everhart's arrival.

McConnell joins Kieron Achara (2007), Shawn James (2008) and Damian Saunders (2010 & 2011) as Everhart Era All-Defensive Team members.

Ninth-seed Duquesne (16-14) opens play in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship at eighth-seed Massachusetts (20-10) on Tuesday night.
