PITTSBURGH - Duquesne University head men's basketball coach Jim Ferry has announced the signing of 6-5 guard Eric James (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central) to a National Letter of Intent.

James, like fellow 2014-15 signee TySean Powell, is also rated as a 3-star recruit by Scout.com.

"Eric allows us to fulfill a need within our program," said Ferry. "He has great versatility and can really shoot the ball. He has a scorer's mentality, which is something we can use on the wing. He, like TySean, brings added length and athleticism to the roster."

James averaged 18.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 2013-14 in helping Westerville Central to its first Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division in six years. An honorable mention Associated Press Division I All-Ohio selection, James was named All-Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division Player of the Year. He was cited as the No. 3 small forward in Ohio by Triple Double Prospects.

"Having two four-year players is important to the continued development of our program," said Ferry referring to James and Powell. "I think they can both have an impact as freshmen."
