A-10 Announces 2017-18 Men's Basketball Home and Road Opponents
June 7, 2017
PITTSBURGH - Five of the Atlantic 10's seven 20-game winners from a year ago will be making the trip to Pittsburgh to face first-year head coach Keith Dambrot's Duquesne Dukes, according to the list of 2017-18 men's basketball home and road opponents announced by the conference today.
The 14 member schools will face each other once, and five schools twice, in the fourth consecutive year of an 18-game regular-season schedule.
NCAA tournament participant Dayton (24-8) heads the list of Duquesne's five home-and-home opponents, which remains unchanged from last year. The Flyers, along with Fordham, George Washington (20-14, CBI), St. Bonaventure (20-12) and Saint Louis will face the Dukes twice.
Davidson, George Mason (20-14, CBI), La Salle and Richmond (22-13, NIT) round out the A-10 home opponents.
The Dukes will play 2017 NCAA tournament participants Rhode Island (26-9) and VCU (26-9) as well as Massachusetts and Saint Joseph's on the road in addition to the five home-and-home schools.
All 14 conference teams will participate in the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship at Washington, D.C.'s Verizon Center on March 7-11.
The A-10 is coming off a season in which six teams reached the postseason. It was the 10th year in a row and 32nd time the A-10 earned at least three bids into the NCAA tournament. It was also the 12th-straight year an Atlantic 10 team advanced to the Round of 32 as Rhode Island, the conference champion, fell in the second round, 75-72, to Final Four participant Oregon.
