Men's Basketball Adds Mar'Qywell Jackson
July 22, 2014
PITTSBURGH - Duquesne University head men's basketball coach Jim Ferry announced today that 6-5 guard Mar'Qywell Jackson (Detroit, Mich./East English Village Prep), a consensus 3-star recruit, has signed a financial aid agreement and will be part of the men's basketball program this fall.
Jackson, who attended classes at UTEP this summer before deciding to transfer, will have four seasons of eligibility at Duquesne.
"Mar'Qywell is a versatile player who is comfortable at both guard spots as well as small forward," said Ferry. "His size and length brings an added dimension to the backcourt. At 6-5, his ability to rebound from the guard spot is also a big plus. Mar'Qywell comes to us from a quality program at East English Prep under head coach Juan Rickman. We are excited to have him at Duquesne."
Jackson, who was ranked 53rd on the 2014 Hoop Scoop Top 100, averaged 26.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game at East English Village Prep last season. Named to the five-man 2014 All-Detroit team by the Detroit Free Press, Jackson was a double-digit scorer in each of his four years of high school. He was rated as the No. 6 player in the state of Michigan by 247sports.com.
NOTE: First name in pronounced Mar-KWELL.
