#DUQMBB Atlantic 10 Schedule Announced
PITTSBURGH - Duquesne will tip-off the 2014-15 Atlantic 10 season with a nationally televised match-up with 2014 NCAA Elite 8 participant Dayton at UD Arena on Jan. 3 as part of the 2014-15 Atlantic 10 schedule released today. The DU at UD game - which is the first of a nationlly televised tripleheader - will be the first of 126 conference games played.
The Dukes are scheduled to appear on TV a minimum of five times in conference play, beginning with the Dayton game. A pair of national TV games will emanate from CONSOL Energy Center (Jan. 17 vs. VCU on CBSSN & Feb. 21 vs. Dayton on NBCSN) with a third televised game coming from Palumbo Center on Feb. 11 vs. George Washington (Atlantic 10 Network). In addition, DU's Feb. 7 game at first-year A-10 member Davidson will air on the A-10 Network (SNY+TBD affiliates).
Duquesne will also have home games vs. St. Bonaventure (Jan. 22) and Saint Louis (Feb. 25) streamed nationally on CampusInsiders.com.
Duquesne will host six of the seven A-10 teams that made postseason appearances last year. NCAA participants Saint Joseph's (Jan. 7), VCU (Jan. 17 at CONSOL Energy Center), George Washington (Feb. 11), Dayton (Feb. 21 at CONSOL Energy Center) and Saint Louis (Feb. 25) will all visit Pittsburgh as part of the 18-game regular-season schedule. In addition, Davidson, which earned an NIT bid as the champion of the Southern Conference in 2013-14, will visit Palumbo Center in the regular-season finale on March 7. Rhode Island (Jan. 10), St. Bonaventure (Jan. 22) and George Mason (Jan. 31) round out the home conference schedule.
The 14 member schools will face each other once and five schools twice in the league's first 18-game regular season schedule since 1991.
Duquesne's home-and-home opponents are Davidson, Dayton, George Washington, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis. DU and George Mason are the only schools facing four teams that made postseason appearances in 2014 in their five-team home-and-home pod.
The 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship will once again be played at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 11-15 with all 14 conference members qualifying. There will be a pair of first round games Wednesday, March 11 on SNY followed by second round games on Thursday, March 12. The winners of those four games will advance to the quarterfinal round on Friday, March 13. The second round and quarterfinal games will be televised by NBCSN. Semifinal games will air on CBSSN on Saturday, March 14 and the championship game will be carried by CBS on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. The top four regular-season finishers will receive first round byes.
Third-year head coach Jim Ferry and the Dukes open the season at home against Bluefield State on Nov. 15.
Fans can get their first look at the 2014-15 Dukes in an exhibition game versus Shippensburg on Friday, Nov. 7.
