Oct. 20, 2015

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Dayton, Rhode Island and Davidson were picked to finish first, second and third in the annual poll of Atlantic 10 coaches and media released today as part of the league's annual media day at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Duquesne, which returns four starters from last year's 12-19 team, was picked to finish 11th. The Dukes did not land any players on the A-10 Preseason All-Conference or All-Defensive teams.

George Washington, VCU and Richmond were tabbed four, five and six, with Saint Joseph's St. Bonaventure, La Salle and Massachusetts occupying the four spots above Duquesne.

Saint Louis, George Mason and Fordham round out the poll.

All 14 teams will advance to the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship March 9-13 at Barclays Center, with the top four finishers receiving byes to the quarterfinal.

The Dukes and fourth-year head coach Jim Ferry will get a good look at the favorites in 2015-16 as Dayton, Davidson and George Washington make up three of DU's five A-10 home-and-home opponents.

Duquesne, which won six of its final 12 games in 2015 - including an Atlantic 10 Championship first round win over Saint Louis - welcomes back a trio of senior starters in guards Derrick Colter (13.2, 2.9) and Micah Mason (12.8, 4.0) along with forward Jeremiah Jones (7.3, 4.5). Six-eleven junior Darius Lewis (3.5, 3.1) is the other returning starter.

Four additional returnees with playing experience are also back in junior forward L.G. Gill (6.9, 4.1) and sophomores TySean Powell (6.9, 3.2), Jordan Robinson (3.9, 2.1) and Eric James (4.6, 2.4).

Ferry will have a pair of transfers eligible for the upcoming season in sophomore guard Rene Castro (Butler) and freshman swingman Mar'Qywell Jackson (UTEP) who sat out last season. Duquesne also added two scholarship freshmen in 6-8 forward Nakye Sanders and 6-4 guard Josh Steel.

Fans can get their first look at the 2015-16 Dukes at the Red/Blue game on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Palumbo Center.

The Dukes will host an exhibition game against Urbana on Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m., before opening the regular season at home against Seton Hill on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
