A-10 Men's Basketball Teams to Play in Record 213 Television Games in 2012-13

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - There will be a record 213 televised men's basketball games involving Atlantic 10 Conference member institutions during the 2012-13 regular season and conference tournament. This includes the previously announced 75 games that are part of the Atlantic 10 television package, individual institutions regional and local agreements and non-conference games that are part of the opponents television package.

Nearly half, 103 of the 213 games (48 percent), are national broadcasts, appearing on one of the A-10's three media partners. This includes 49 games on the ESPN family of networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3), 40 games on CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network and 14 games on NBC Sports Network.

In addition, 83 of the 213 games are A-10 conference regular season games. This represents 65 percent of the Atlantic 10's conference 128-game schedule. There will be 31 different outlets, including the local and regional carriers, airing Atlantic 10 games this year.

The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the Atlantic 10 Championship will be televised. The quarterfinals will be regionally cleared games, the semifinals will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and CBS will carry the championship finals as part of the network's Selection Sunday coverage.

The 213 televised games highlight a league coming off of a record eight postseason bids last year. The 2012-13 A-10 features 16 members, including newcomers Butler and VCU, providing new rivalries and further strengthening the A-10 position as the best basketball-centric league in Division I. The A-10 is in seven of the top 25 media markets, including four of the top 10. Beginning in 2013-14, all 14 conference members will be in the top 65 media markets in the country and the Atlantic 10 media footprint will reach over 33 million television households, which is approximately 33 percent of the US television market.

The 2012-13 season begins Friday with nine A-10 teams in action, beginning with a 6:00 pm ET tip-off of Charleston Southern at Charlotte. The first televised game will be Fairleigh-Dickinson at Xavier at 7:00 pm ET on FOX Sports Ohio.
