Atlantic 10 Release

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne freshman guard Derrick Colter (Forestville, Md./Largo) has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his performance in Duquesne's two games last week.

The 5-11 point guard averaged 14.0 points and 6.5 assists in a win over West Virginia and loss at Robert Morris. Colter scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half to help Duquesne come back from a 15-point deficit to defeat West Virginia, 60-56. The comeback was the best by a Duquesne team in 15 years. The Maryland native converted back-to-back layups and handed out his seventh assist (to Jerry Jones) in the final 2:02 to turn a 53-53 tie into a six-point DU lead. Colter added two steals and five rebounds against the Mountaineers. He followed that with a team high 16 points and six assists at Robert Morris.

Colter, who has started all 11 games at the point for the Dukes, is averaging a team-high 29.6 minutes per game. He also leads the team in assists with 55 (5.0 per game). Colter has scored in double digits six times, including each of DU's past three games.

Duquesne (6-5) hosts Western Michigan (7-3) on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 7:00 p.m. The WMU game will be televised nationally by NBC Sports Network.
