• Duquesne (7-5), which upped its home record to 6-1 with a 71-66 win over Western Michigan on Wednesday, heads South to face Louisiana (4-8) in its final pre-Christmas game. The game, which will tip at 8:00 (ET) on Saturday, Dec. 22, marks the first appearance in the state of Louisiana by a Duquesne basketball team.
• Derrick Colter scored a career-high 25 points and Sean Johnson added 18 in the win over WMU ... the Dukes tied their season high with 12 3-pointers (in a season high 32 attempts) in the wire-to-wire win ... Andre Marhold added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks for DU.
• This is the second meeting between Duquesne and Louisiana of the Sun Belt Conference. Last year, Sean Johnson and B.J. Monteiro led six players in double figures with 16 points each in an 84-65 win at Palumbo Center. The Dukes outshot UL 50.0% to 34.3%.
• Duquesne's five losses have come to teams with a combined 46-11 record (entering Thursday's games).
• The Dukes, who ranked 337th of 338th schools in rebounding margin last season (-7.5 rpg.), are outrebounding opponents by +5.3 per game - a net improvement of 12.8 rpg. DU has outrebounded two opponents by 20 or more (+24 vs. Youngstown St. & +26 vs. New Orleans).
• First-year Duquesne head coach Jim Ferry's Dukes are receiving contributions from up and down the roster ... nine players have scored in double digits, six have led the team in scoring and seven have either led - or tied for the team lead - in single-game rebounding.
• Duquesne, which is 6-1 at home, 1-3 on the road and 0-1 at neutral sites, has been in Pittsburgh since Nov. 29. DU left for Louisiana early Thursday morning.
• Duquesne held Final Exams from Dec. 12-18. Classes resume on Jan. 3.
• Sean Johnson, who will be playing in his 106th game at UL, became the 37th 1,000-point scorer in school history with a game-high 21 vs. New Orleans on Dec. 8. Johnson enters the Louisiana game with 1,052 points, which ranks No. 33 on the all-time list (he needs four to pass former teammate Eric Evans and move into the No. 32 spot).
• True freshmen Derrick Colter (29.9), Jeremiah Jones (22.8) and Quevyn Winters (21.2) are averaging over 20 minutes per game ... the threesome is accounting for 40.4 percent of the DU's points ... the Dukes are 6-2 since Jeremiah Jones joined the starting lineup (Nov. 21 vs. Youngstown State),
• Duquesne is 6-0 when scoring 70 or more, 5-0 when leading at the half and 5-0 when leading with 5:00 left ... in an oddity of sorts, the Dukes are 2-4 when holding opponents under 70 points and 2-2 when holding opponents under 40 percent from the floor.
