Eric Evans scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as Duquesne shook off a slow start to defeat Penn State 66-59 before a crowd of 7,046 at CONSOL Energy Center.


Derrick Colter scored 25 vs. both Western Michigan and Louisiana to earn Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week (Dec. 17 & 24) ... Colter, who has scored in double digits in his past five games (19.0 ppg. over that span), leads the Dukes in scoring (13.2 ppg.) and assists (61/4.7 apg.) ... only four players in school history have led the Dukes in scoring and assists - all were seniors: Aaron Jackson (19.3/5.7 as a senior in 2009), Bryant McAllister (19.7/4.8 as a senior in 2006), Courtney Wallace (16.6/3.4 as a senior in 2001) and Mike James (17.5/3.5 as a senior in 1998).

• The Dukes, who ranked 337th of 338th schools in rebounding margin last season (-7.5 rpg.), are outrebounding opponents by +4.4 per game - a net improvement of 11.9 rpg. DU has outrebounded two opponents by 20 or more (+24  vs. Youngstown St. & +26 vs. New Orleans).


• Duquesne, which is 6-1 at home, 1-4 on the road and 0-1 at neutral sites, will not have another home game until Jan. 12.

• DU's non-conference schedule was ranked as tied for fifth-toughest in the Atlantic 10 by ESPN's Andy Katz. Butler and Temple were ranked a 9 (on a 10-point scale), Xavier and Richmond an 8 and Duquesne and VCU a 7.

• This is the 44th game in a series that dates back to Feb. 9, 1924 ... it is also the first game of a  new four-game home-and-home series ... it is also the final non-conference game for both schools.

• Last year, Eric Evans scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as Duquesne shook off a slow start to defeat Penn State 66-59 before a crowd of 7,046 at CONSOL Energy Center. Jerry Jones added a career-high 14 points off the bench for the Dukes who shot 51.9 percent in the second half ... DU's returnees combined for just 32 of 66 points scored in last year's game.

ON THE ROAD
Duquesne, which won a total of 17 road games in 10 seasons from 1997 through 2006, has posted 34 road wins over the past seven seasons. Of the 34 wins, 25 have come by double digits. From 1996-97 through 2005-06 Duquesne posted a total of three double-digit road victories. DU is 1-4 on the road this season with a 73-72 win at Appalachian State on Nov. 28.
