Harry Carter, the 2005 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, is in his fourth season as a defensive assistant. The Lanham, Md., native works with DU's linebackers. Carter, a four-year starter at middle linebacker for the Dukes (2002-05), was a three-time consensus Mid-Major All-American and was also named first team All-MAAC as a sophomore, junior and senior. The 2002 MAAC Defensive Rookie of the Year led the Dukes in tackles for four consecutive seasons including the 2003 Mid-Major National Championship year. He finished his career second on Duquesne' all-time tackles list with 394. Duquesne was 33-8 and ranked first in the nation twice in total defense, (2002 & 2005), during Carter's career. Carter, 26, who completed his undergraduate degree in communication studies in the spring of 2007, resides in Pittsburgh.
