Kellen O’Neill joined the Duquesne football staff as the Dukes' wide receivers coach in July 2017 after serving as the running backs and special teams coach at his alma mater Edinboro University last season.
O’Neill helped the Fighting Scots to the largest turnaround in NCAA Division II history in 2016, finishing with a 9-2 record following a winless campaign in 2015.
Prior to his return to Edinboro, O’Neill was as an assistant coach at the University of Albany the previous two seasons.
A 2013 graduate of Edinboro with a degree in Communication Studies, O’Neill played three seasons for the Fighting Scots. As a wide receiver, O’Neill finished his career with 23 receptions and 181 receiving yards.
O’Neill started his collegiate career at Slippery Rock University, where he redshirted in 2009 and served as the backup quarterback in 2010, appearing in eight games. He transferred to Edinboro the next summer and played in 11 games in 2011 as a backup at wide receiver and quarterback, along with holding on placekicks. In 2012, he played in nine games, catching 10 passes for 89 yards. He added 13 receptions for 92 yards while playing in 11 contests in 2013.
