Schmitt completes football coaching staff

NFL veteran Matt Raich to coach linebackers; Ryan Lehmeier to coach running backs

Ryan Lehmeier, who spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant running backs coach at Division II Findlay (Ohio), is in his first year working with Duquesne's backfield.

While at Findlay, Lehmeier coached Monterae Williams, a 2012 second team all-Super Region 3 honoree (Don Hansen's Football Gazette), who finished his career as the school's all-time leading rusher.

In addition to coaching at Findlay, the Pittsburgh native also brings college playing experience to the DU sidelines having rushed for 1,771 yards and 21 touchdowns at Slippery Rock from 2007-09.

A second team All-PSAC pick in 2008, Lehmeier - the second player in school history to post back-to-back 200-yard games - graduated with a degree in physical education in 2010.

A graduate of North Hills High School, Lehmeier was a first team all-state player as a senior. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fabulous 22 and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Terrific 25 pick led North Hill to three-straight playoff appearances as a quarterback/safety.

Lehmeier resides in Pittsburgh.
