Zach Richert, a linebacker for the Dukes from 2009-12, is in his first year working with the outside linebackers.

A two-year captain Richert, played in 43 games with 7.0 career sacks as a third down specialist and special teams standout. He capped his career as one of 55 players who participated in the Miami Dolphins three-day rookie mini-camp in May of 2013.

Richert was a standout in the classroom as well, completing his undergraduate degree in education/English in May of 2012 with a 3.89 GPA.

He played his final season while taking classes in the graduate school of sports leadership.

Richert, who was named to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team twice, was Duquesne's Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2012-13.

The Gibsonia, Pa. native was a member of the National Scholars Honor Society, the Golden Key International Honors Society and Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Society as well as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Executive Board Member. He served as DU's Atlantic 10 SAAC representative for two years.
