The victory upped Duquesne's MAAC win streak to 19 games and ended a Saint
Peter's home win streak at eight. The Dukes are now 9-0 all-time vs.
Saint Peter's
Junior running back Mike Hilliard (Homer Center,
Pa./Homer Center) rushed for 133 yards on 35 carries. His carries and
yardage were both career highs. It was also Hilliard's third 100-yard
rushing game of the season.
Sophomore quarterback Niel Loebig (McDonald,
Pa./South Fayette), who briefly left the game in the second quarter with a
shoulder injury, completed 14-of-27 passes for 178 yards on the afternoon. Loebig, who was just 5-of-13 for 45 yards in the first half, completed
8-of-10 passes for 128 yards during DU's two fourth-quarter touchdown
drives.
Senior wide receiver Jeremy Conley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Allderdice)
was the prime beneficiary of Loebig's second-half heroics, catching 5
passes for 84 yards on the two scoring drives. Conley had just one catch
for 7 yards at the half.
Outside linebacker Mitch Zobb (Pittsburgh,
Pa./North Hills) and middle linebacker Harry Carter (Lanham, Md./Eleanor
Roosevelt) led the Dukes with nine tackles each. Carter was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League Rookie of the Week for his performance in last week's win over Lafayette.
DU's defense
intercepted two passes and held Saint Peter's to -4 yards passing on eight
attempts.
Duquesne's offensive line did not allow a sack on the afternoon.
