Oct. 30, 2004

Recap |  Box Score |  Quotes

  • The victory, combined with La Salle's 42-35 loss at Iona, clinched the 2004 MAAC Championship for the Dukes ... it is the sixth straight title and eighth in 10 years for Duquesne (1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004)

  • DU can finish a full game ahead of Marist with a win at La Salle next Saturday ... if the Dukes finish with a 3-1 record (as Marist did today), Duquesne would be the league champion by virtue of today's win

  • The victory extended Duquesne's MAAC Football League win streak to 32 games ... it is the longest active conference win streak in NCAA Divisions I-A and I-AA

  • DU has not lost a conference game since October 23, 1999

  • The victory also extended Duquesne's series advantage to 10-2 over Marist and its home win streak to 15

  • Duquesne finished the game with 14 tackles for loss led by junior defensive tackle Josh Antinopoulos (Monaca, Pa. / Monaca) and senior defensive end Ryan Tolan (LaVerne, Calif. / Bonita) with four each

  • The defensive line finished with all nine of the Dukes' sacks: Antinopoulos (4.0 for -18), Tolan (3.5 for -25), Antoine Bullock (Houston, Texas / Sugar Land Kempner) (1.0 for -4) and Ryan Esdale (Succasunna, N.J. / Roxbury) (0.5 for -2)

  • Bullock's sack moved him into a tie for fourth on Duquesne's all-time sacks list with 15.5

  • DU limited Marist to 24 yards on 29 second-half plays including 13 yards on 25 carries.
