Philadelphia, Pa. - Duquesne University's football team ended the 2006 season with a convincing 38-0 win over La Salle Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia.

With this win and Saint Peter's 30-15 victory over Iona earlier today, Duquesne (7-3, 3-1) wins a share of the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League title. This extends the Dukes' MAAC Championship string to eight.

Sophomore quarterback Scott Knapp completed four passes for touchdowns giving him 28 on the season, one shy of assistant coach Niel Loebig's Duquesne season record.

Knapp teamed up with three wideouts, sophomore Conrad Carter (2), junior Bruce Hocker and senior Dan Spriggs, in making those scores. Sophomore Greg Hough intercepted an Explorer pass in the end zone and returned it 100-plus yards for the Dukes' fifth TD.

Sophomore Mark Troyan added a second half field goal that extended the margin to 38-0, the only points by either team in the final 30 minutes.

More information later.
