March 12, 2012
PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne football team will begin preparations for the 2012 season with spring practice starting on Wednesday, March 14th. This is the first of 15 sessions which culminate with the spring game on Saturday, April 14th.
As defending Northeast Conference co-champions, the Dukes are coming off a 9-2 record and a #34 ranking in the final Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25 College Football Poll.
"Our players and staff have worked hard through the off-season and are looking forward to getting back on the field," commented head coach Jerry Schmitt. "A group of young but talented players will get an opportunity to continue their development as we look to replace a large number of starters lost to graduation."
DUQ will return a total of nine starters - five on offense and four on defense - for 2012 season which begins Sept. 1st at Old Dominion University."
