Huss & Stone Named Preseason All-FCS
June 2, 2017
PITTSBURGH – A pair of former WPIAL standouts, senior offensive lineman Ben Huss (Upper St. Clair, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and senior linebacker Nathan Stone (Scottdale, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic), have been named to the 2017 Lindy’s Preseason All-Football Championship Subdivision Team.
Huss, a three-time All-Northeast Conference guard, was named to the first team, while Stone, who has also earned All-NEC honors three times, was named to the second team. Huss and Stone are two of three NEC players among the 52 named to the two teams.
Huss earned Third Team STATS FCS All-American honors last season after anchoring an offensive line that helped the Dukes average 429 yards per game (168.5 per game on the ground and 260.5 in the air). The 6-2, 310-pounder has helped clear the way for 13 100-yard rushing games by four different backs over the past two seasons. Huss, who was named First Team All-NEC in 2015 and 2016, was a Second Team all-conference pick in 2014.
Stone, who has started every game of his college career (35 in a row entering 2017), will enter his senior year with 232 tackles (123 solo) and 25.5 tackles for loss, including 12.5 sacks. The 6-0, 255-pounder, who is averaging 6.6 tackles per game for his career, was second on the team with 73 tackles (8.0 TFL) last season. His 42 solo stops tied for team-high. Stone was the NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year and Jerry Rice Watch List finalist as a freshman in 2014 before going on to earn Second Team All-NEC honors in 2015 and First Team mention last season.
Duquesne, which has won a share of four of the past six NEC titles, opens the 2017 season on Thursday, August 31 at South Dakota State.
