Duquesne Athletic Fund to Roast and Toast Legendary Coach
June 3, 2013
Duquesne University's longest-tenured football coach will be on the receiving end of good-natured ribbing for a good cause when he's "roasted" on Friday, June 28.
Dan McCann guided the Dukes to the 1973 National Club Championship, led the team to Division III status in 1979, and set the stage for the jump to FCS in 1993. He won 91 games in 19 seasons.
Former players, fellow coaches, and colleagues will recall their humorous experiences and remembrances of the "Big Guy" from 6-9 p.m. in the Power Center Ballroom on campus. Tickets are $135 per person; proceeds benefit the Dan McCann Fund for Football Excellence.
The fund honors the legendary coach while helping Duquesne Football compete at a higher level and maintain the tradition of excellence that began under McCann's leadership.
Additional funding for Duquesne Football will be raised through a golf outing the following day, Saturday, June 29, at Hickory Heights Golf Club; $150 per golfer / $600 per foursome. For more information on the Football Golf Invitation please go to www.myduquesne.duq.edu/footballinvitational2013
