PITTSBURGH - Senior linebacker Dorian Bell (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), one of three Northeast Conference players named to the 2012 The Sports Network postseason All-American team, has been named first team preseason FCS All-American by TSN.

Bell, a third-year Ohio State transfer, became just the fourth Duquesne player to be named FCS All-America by the Sports Network when he was honored following last season (third team).

A first team All-NEC pick in 2012, Bell posted double-digit tackles for six consecutive weeks before suffering a hand injury that sidelined him for the last two games last season. He led Duquesne in tackles (92 including a team-high 54 solo), tackles for loss (12.0 including a team-high 6.5 sacks) and fumbles forced (3) despite missing three games. His 11.5 tackles per game would have led the NEC and ranked tied for eighth nationally had he met the NCAA minimum requirement for games played (75% of a team's total).

Bell, Bryant senior receiver Jordan Harris (second team) and CCSU all-purpose junior Rob Hollomon (third team) - were the only Northeast Conference players named to the Sports Network's three preseason teams.

This is the second consecutive season Duquesne has placed a player on The Sports Network preseason All-American Team. Last year, senior safety Serge Kona was honored. Bell is the first DU player to be named to the preseason first team.

The Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America Team consists of 98 players from 59 schools over three teams. The Missouri Valley led all conferences with 17 selections followed by the Southern Conference and Colonial Athletic Association with 15 each.

The 2013 Sports Network All-America Team will be announced after the regular season in mid-December.

Duquesne opens the 2013 season at home against Albany on Aug. 31.

The Sports Network also presents the four major awards in the division - the Walter Payton (FCS outstanding player), the Buck Buchanan (FCS outstanding defensive player), the Jerry Rice (FCS outstanding freshman player) and the Eddie Robinson (FCS coach of the year) - after the season. In addition, TSN presents the FCS's most widely recognized weekly Top 25 poll and weekly awards honoring the nation's top offensive player, defensive player, special teams player and freshman.
