Chavas Rawlins Joins Duquesne Football Team

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne University head football coach Jerry Schmitt announced today that West Virginia transfer Chavas Rawlins (Monessen, Pa./Monessen) has signed a financial aid agreement and will be part of the football program this fall.
A consensus 3-star recruit, the 6-3, 190-pound Rawlins graduated early from Monessen High School in order to enroll at West Virginia in the spring of 2013. He went through spring practice with the Mountaineers prior to deciding to transfer.
Rawlins, a dual-threat athlete, threw for 1,382 yards and 13 touchdowns and ran for 613 yards and 12 more scores in 11 games as a senior at Monessen High School. Named 2012 Class A all-state quarterback by Pennsylvania Sportswriters, Rawlins was also named to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Terrific 25 and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fabulous 22.
Rawlins entertained offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Nebraska, North Carolina, Northwestern, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers, USF, Tennessee and Virginia prior to enrolling at West Virginia.
