TSN Preseason FCS Top 25
TSN Release

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne is one of three Northeast Conference schools receiving votes in the Sports Network FCS Top 25 College Football Poll released today.

The Dukes, who finished last season 34th with 26 points, are 49th in the preseason poll with 14 points. Fellow conference members Albany (45th with 39 points) and Bryant (one point) also received votes.

Albany, which tied with Duquesne for the 2011 NEC title, was picked to finish first in 2012 in the annual preseason poll of league coaches released last week. Duquesne was voted second and Bryant third.

Duquesne's season opening opponent, Old Dominion, is ranked No. 8. ODU will be the highest ranked team DU has ever faced. The season-opener is set for Sept. 1 at 6:00 p.m. in Norfolk, Va.

The Sports Network poll is voted on by a national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries. A first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote.

During the regular season, the Top 25 will be released every Monday afternoon, except for the final weekend of the regular season, when it will be released Sunday morning, Nov. 18, prior to the selection of the FCS playoff field.

The Sports Network will release a final Top 25 following the FCS championship game, which will be held Jan. 5 in Frisco.
