PITTSBURGH - Freshman quarterback Ben Palumbo (Canton, Ohio/McKinley) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League Rookie of the Week for his performance in Duquesne's (2-0, 1-0) MAAC-opening 17-7 win at Siena on Saturday.

Palumbo, pressed into action when a shoulder injury forced starting quarterback Niel Loebig to the sidelines after the opening series, responded by completing 12-of-24 passes for 171 yards in his first collegiate game. The 6-2, 210-pounder completed passes to six different players on the afternoon including a 27-yard strike to senior wideout Jeremy Conley to set up a two-yard TD run by Matt Hrutkay with 1:45 left for the game's final score.

Duquesne returns home to face Marist (2-0, 1-0) in a key MAAC match-up on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Rooney Field. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. Dukes can be heard on Fox Sports Radio Pittsburgh, WBGG-AM 970, and on the web at RedZoneMedia.com.
