Duquesne senior running back Larry McCoy (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe) earned Northeast Conference Football co-Offensive Player of the Week honors in notching his school record-tying 21st career 100-yard game in Duquesne's 45-17 win at Valparaiso on Saturday.

The 5-10, 226-pounder finished with 171 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries against the Crusaders. He had 117 yards in 16 first-half carries in helping the Dukes rally from a 17-7 first quarter deficit to a 21-17 halftime lead.

McCoy, who went over the century mark on a 19 yard touchdown run late in the second quarter, scored on a 28 yard run on DU's first possession and added a 6 yard run that made it 31-17 with 5:27 left in the third quarter before heading to the bench for the remainder of the game.

McCoy finished the game eight yards shy of passing Pedro Bowman (3,830 yards from 1981-84), the No. 2 rusher in school history. He needs 438 yards to pass all-time leading rusher Donte Small (4,260 career yards). Small set the school mark with 21 100 yard games from 1998 through 2001. McCoy, who has 3,823 career yards, has topped the 100 yard mark in 17 of his past 22 games.

McCoy, who is the first Duke to earn NEC Player of the Week honors this season, leads all rushers at both the FBS and FCS levels with 771 career rushes. His 3,823 career yards trail only Eric Breitenstein of Wofford (4,109) among all ballcarriers at both levels.

Duquesne (2-1, 0-0) opens NEC play at Bryant (0-3, 0-1) on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m.
