Crawford, Zanotto Earn Weekly NEC Honors
Oct. 9, 2017

SOMERSET, N.J. - Junior wide receiver Nehari Crawford (Fort Pierce, Fla./Fort Pierce Central) and sophomore linebacker Brett Zanotto (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional/Maryland) each garnered Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week accolades for their performance in Duquesne's 38-0 win over Wagner, conference officials announced today. Crawford was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week while Zanotto was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week.

Crawford finished with a career-high 156 receiving yards and a pair of touchdown catches in the victory over the Seahawks in the Dukes' NEC opener on Saturday afternoon at Rooney Field. The junior tallied six catches on the day, including a season-long 79-yard touchdown reception. He added a five-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter to push the Duquesne lead to 14-0.

Crawford's 156 receiving yards are the most by any NEC player this season. He has caught a touchdown pass in all five games on the year, including three multi-touchdown showings. His eight receiving touchdowns rank second in NCAA FCS.

Central Connecticut State running back Drew Jean-Guillaume was also named Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his two-touchdown performance in the Blue Devils' win over Penn.

Zanotto had a game-high eight tackles (seven solo) in the Dukes' first shutout win since 2014 on Saturday including 2.5 tackles for loss. Seven of his stops limited the Wagner offense to two yards or less on those plays. Facing a pair of Seahawks running backs who eclipsed 100 rushing yards last week in a win over Lehigh, Zanotto made four tackles on rushing plays that netted Wagner a total of -2 yards.

The Maryland transfer paces the Dukes with 36 tackles (21 solo) on the year to go with 3.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three quarterback hurries.

This marks the first NEC Player of the Week awards for both Crawford and Zanotto.

Duquesne returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 14 traveling to Moon Township to take on Robert Morris. Game time is slated for 6 p.m. ET at Joe Walton Stadium.
