Oct. 21, 2013
PITTSBURGH - Junior punter Aaron Fleck (Oakdale, Pa./West Allegheny) was named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 21-20 win at Robert Morris.
Fleck, who dropped three of his seven punts inside the RMU 20, played a key role in DU's 21-point third quarter. After the Dukes' opening drive of the second half stalled, Fleck launched a career-long 51-yard punt that landed at the RMU 9-yard line. Four plays later, the Dukes forced a safety. His next punt, a 33-yarder, rolled out of bounds at the RMU 3. The Colonials fumbled on the next play from scrimmage and it was recovered in the end zone for another safety. Fleck's second attempt of the game went for 39 yards and was downed at the RMU 16.
This is the second consecutive week a Duquesne player has earned NEC Special Teams POW honors as last week junior punt returner Devin Rahming was named.
Duquesne (4-2, 2-0), winner of three in a row, heads to Rhode Island to face Bryant (3-4, 1-1) in an NEC match up on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
